How it works

Reconcile spreadsheet data in a few simple steps.

RecUtility is designed for quick accounting reconciliation work without account setup, bank connections, cloud uploads, or accounting system integrations.

1

Copy your data

Start with transaction data from Excel or another spreadsheet-style report. Your data should include debit and credit amount columns, plus useful context columns such as description, vendor, customer, reference number, journal ID, account, invoice number, or memo.

2

Paste into RecUtility

Click Paste from Clipboard to bring your copied rows into the app. If your first row contains column headers, choose Yes when prompted.

3

Map your columns

Use the dropdowns above each column to tell RecUtility what each column means. Debit, Credit, and at least one Description/Context column are required before reconciliation can run.

4

Use multiple description/context columns

You can select multiple Description/Context columns. This is recommended because extra context, such as vendor name, reference number, journal ID, or account code, can improve match accuracy.

5

Run reconciliation

Click Run Reconciliation. RecUtility searches for exact offsetting debit and credit matches, including 1:1, 1:many, many:1, and many:many grouped matches.

6

Review the results

RecUtility adds result columns showing Match ID, Status, Confidence, and Explanation. Rows with the same Match ID belong to the same proposed match group.

7

Copy results back to Excel

When you are ready, click Copy Results and paste the output back into Excel or another spreadsheet tool for review, documentation, or further analysis.

Privacy-first by design

RecUtility processes your data locally on your device. It does not require an account, does not connect to your bank or accounting system, and does not upload your transaction data to a cloud service.

Important note

RecUtility is a review aid. Always review reconciliation results before relying on them for accounting, reporting, audit, or business decisions.
